This keynote conversation will examine how we can use the lessons learned from the past year to forge ahead as filmmakers and documentarians in Minnesota by expanding our networks, our comfort zones, and our story's impact in the world.

Sat. Feb 6th, 10:00 am

This workshop welcomes participants to reflect on their past and self awareness with the intention to grow storytelling skills. It is a simple exercise to dive into your own story and see it from a new perspective. Please bring different color markers / pens!

Feb. 7th, 11am-12

Artist Tomas Leal shares his expertise, experiences, and story working as an independent commercial photographer and teaching artist that provides mentorships in photography, videography, and music. He'll share his thoughts on the power of storytelling using photography and how important it is to support others as they find their own voice through photography. This is a 45 minute session with 15 minutes of Q&A at the end.

Feb. 7th, 12:15-1:15pm

Tiana LaPointe will share how her experiences as a youth media intern shaped her career as a teaching artist. She will show examples of her artwork and discuss the values she brings with her as a mentor to youth in the digital media field.

Friday, Feb. 5th, 7pm-8:30pm.

Women of color filmmakers discuss their experience working in the field and their hopes for this industry. Facilitated by Naomi Ko.

Sat. Feb. 6th, 11:15am

A panel discussion featuring an inspiring group of Minnesota documentary filmmakers who bring their own very personal experiences and perspectives to their films. We’ll talk about the decision-making behind bringing a personal story to the screen and the lessons learned along the way. Featuring: Andres Parra, Pam Colby, and Da Hee Kim.

Saturday, Feb. 6th, 3-4:30pm

Filmmakers share their experiences actively working throughout 2020, amidst the pandemic, uprisings and elections. Facilitated by Hlee Lee-Kron.

Sunday, Feb. 7th, 4-5:30pm

What is the experience of being Black in the filmmaking industry look like? What may it look like moving forward? Here from five phenomenal filmmakers as they share their insights and experiences: D.A. Bullock, Alison Guessou, Adja Gildersleve, E.G. Bailey, Victor V. Hogan, II. Moderated by Bianca Rhodes.
