The SPNN Youth Open Lab held another workshop on Friday, May 11th, 2012. This month's workshop focused on Public Service Announcements and was held at Dayton's Bluff Library. A SPNN staff member and a peer mentor led this two-hour workshop on what a PSA is, what issues they explore, and how to make one.
For several years, SPNN Youth Open Lab (SOL) has given local youth the opportunity to work on producing short
videos in a free-form environment. Each Monday at SPNN, youth producers drop-in
at the media lab to work on everything from documentaries to music videos, with
the support of our youth programs staff.
Beginning this year, SOL is coming out of the media lab and going into the
community. One day a month SPNN Youth is holding workshops at neighborhood
branches of the Saint Paul Public Library on topics like spoken word videos,
PSAs, and storytelling through film.
Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes are coming to SOL. We still encourage all to come work on independent media projects, but SOL is now by appointment only. Appointments can be made for Mondays between 3 and 5pm by contacting Sara Torres at email@example.com or 651-361-8152
All youth workshops, for the remainder of the program year, will be moving from Mondays to Tuesdays after Set It Up. Please note the date changes. As before, workshops are held in the youth media lab. Hope to see you there!
Need an idea for a screenplay? Simply want to know what exactly a screenplay is? Come to this two-hour workshop exploring how to get started on your first narrative screenwriting endeavor, and where to go from there. Meet in the SPNN Youth Media Lab Monday, January 24th from 3-5pm. See you there!
