C-SPAN StudentCAM 2013 Documentary Contest

C-SPAN's StudentCam is an annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think seriously about issues that affect our communities and our nation. Students are asked to create a short (5-8 minute) video documentary on a topic related to a specfic theme.

This year's theme is: 
“Message to the President: What’s the most important issue the president should consider in 2013?”

Children's Media Project is hosting a film festival for young filmmakers ages 14-19. The winner will receive a $500 cash prize.

Guidlines: 

Film Length: 10 minutes or less

Genres: Narrative, Animation, Experimental, Documentary

Format: Quicktime

Submission Deadline: October 30

Submissions will also be considered for inclusion in DROP TV, the award-winning youth-produced TV program that airs internationally on public access television stations.

Who: The University of Minnesota Human Rights Center is seeking Twin Cities students grades 8-12 who are interested in making a video about human rights issues.  Participants may work individually or as a team.
