It's Sophomore year for Doc U

SPNN is proud to announce that the Minnesota State Arts Board has renewed the grant for Doc U, allowing us to extend our reach, training and mentoring to a dozen more low-income adults in documentary filmmaking.

Say hello to our new Access Coordinator

We are very excited to announce that Pete Poire-Odegard will be joining SPNN as our new Access Coordinator. Originally from Minnesota, Pete is coming to us by way of Portland, OR, bringing with him a long history of community media work.

Take note: SPNN holiday closures

SPNN will have a number of closures over the next month. Please take note and plan accordingly.

The Access center will be closed December 23rd-January 1st. Access will re-open on Wednesday, January 2nd at 2 PM, which is earlier than usual, to give members additional hours.

The SPNN offices will be closed December 24th & 25th for Christmas, and January 1st for New Years' Day. The office will be open regular hours all other days.

A beautiful season at the Market

Earlier this year, our web series Market began taking you on an expansive tour of the St. Paul Farmers’ Market, it’s visitors, the farms that sell there, and the many organizations and people who are involved in the market’s activities. Over the course of 20 short weekly episodes, producer David Zierott and his crew drove over a thousand miles - all over Minnesota and Wisconsin - to meet the people who bring you your food.

The Community Technology Empowerment Project (CTEP) is now seeking host sites for the 2013-14 Program Year. CTEP, an AmeriCorps program of Saint Paul Neighborhood Network, aims to address issues of the Digital Divide. Since 2004, CTEP has operated in the Twin Cities metro area in Minnesota. Our members work in programs as diverse as job services organizations, community media centers, and local libraries.

SPNN Youth screens Lightrail documentary at Cycles for Change

On the snowy evening of Monday, November 12th, five members of the SPNN Youth crew arrived at Cycles for Change, a not-for-profit community bike shop on University Avenue. Using a white sheet, which was artfully taped to the ceiling, a small projector, and about 15 chairs rolled in from around the shop, they quickly constructed a makeshift theater.

SPNN will be closed for Thanksgiving, Wed. & Thurs., Nov. 21st & 22nd

The Access center and the offices of SPNN will be closed this coming Wednesday, November 21st and Thursday, November 22nd, in observance of Thanksgiving.

On Thursday, In place of regular programming, please enjoy Classic Arts Showcase on Channel 14, NASA Educational Channel on Channel 16, and special holiday programming on Channel 19. 

Have a wonderful holiday! We will be open for our regular hours on Friday, November 23rd.

Get ready for another great season of Set It Up

Set It Up has officially started production on Season 13. We can hardly believe another whole year has come and gone, but each year when fall arrives, so does another great group of youth who are eager to learn about media production.  We're excited to have several return members, members joining us from other SPNN Youth programs, and some brand new participants in the crew this year.
