SPNN brings you the 2012 Elections: Your vote is your voice

Each year, as part of our ongoing mission to connect the St. Paul community, we partner with a variety of community groups to bring our viewers local candidate forums and elections coverage. This year we’re bringing you vital information about Minnesota state senate elections in Districts 64, 65, and 66; the US Congressional District 4 election; and the US presidential election, in addition to several districts outside of Ramsey County.

Throughout the month of October we’re working with the Minnesota League of Women Voters to film local candidate forums. Many of these local races receive very minimal press attention, and candidate forums can be your best source of information about those running. We’ll also bring you the US House District 4 candidate forum, featuring the hotly contested race between powerful Democratic incumbent Betty Mccollum, Republican Tony Hernandez, and Independent Steve Carlson.

Democracy Now! airs daily on our channels, offering a variety of independent political coverage. Democracy Now! has put together multiple Presidential debate specials that feature third party candidates alongside Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney. Click here for dates and times. These specials will air on Channel 15, but please note that beginning October 29th, Democracy Now will be moving to Channel 19, where it will air live at 7 AM, and air again in the evening at 6 PM.

Alongside our videos, we have put together a list of resources with information on districts, polling places, and candidates on our 2012 Elections page. Your vote is your voice, and it’s our goal to help you be the most informed voter you can be.
