A fond farewell to Maria Tototzintle

Maria helps Doc U participants during a workshop.

SPNN Access Coordinator Maria Tototzintle has announced that in January she will be moving on from the organization to pursue her dream of running her own production business, Tequila Digital Media, full-time. We’re very sad to see her go, but excited to see what new successes this next chapter brings to her.

Maria has been at SPNN for eight years. Working with Access members, she has taught many classes and been an important contact with the public.  Bonnie Schumacher, Director of Access, says that Maria is amazing at working with members, because she is very interested in what they are working on and personally invested in their success. She’s a patient and skilled teacher, because she’s able to meet members wherever they are at in the learning process. “She’s been great to work with,” Bonnie says “because she’s always willing to jump in and be supportive.”

Outside of SPNN, Maria is an accomplished creator of her own media. She has been running her company Tequila Digital Media for several years, as well as producing the popular local filmmaking show Butter City here in the Access Center. As a media creator, Maria has worked with many local non-profits and is a well-known face around town.

Maria will continue as an Access Coordinator until early January, so that she can assist in the successful completion of the Doc U program. Of her time at SPNN, Maria says “I am a different person today than I was eight years ago and SPNN has played a major role in shaping me to the person I am - happy where I’m at.” We’re very glad to have been able to work with her for so long, and we wish her the best of luck as she takes this giant leap forward!
