SPNN Youth Featured in .EDU Film Fest 2012

On May 18th, SPNN Youth hit the road and crossed the cities to attend the 2012 .EDU Film Fest at St. Anthony Main Theater in Minneapolis. Two pieces produced at SPNN screened at the festival, which is the only school-sponsored, statewide, student film festival in the state of Minnesota.
Three producers from SPNN Youth had work represented in the festival, two of which were from the first episode of this season of Set It Up. Breon Jones' Set It Up segment "Puppets" featured interviews with members of the cast and crew of Transylvania Television, a web-based puppet television series. In Breon's piece we see why these artists are drawn to puppets, how to make puppets, and even get a few snippets of the felt-clad characters in action. Ari Conroy's video "Vegetarianism," also created for Set It Up, follows Ari as she decides to be more conscious about food and experiments with a vegetarian diet for one week. Set It Up crew member Mikael Nylund's work was also represented in Batman: Behind the Mask, which he worked on with IFP Minnesota and Creative Arts High School.
The .EDU Fest trip was a great opportunity for SPNN Youth Producers to show off their amazing work and to take in some work being done by other youth producers across the state. We look forward to seeing what graces the screens at .EDU next year!
