The Twin Cities Youth Media Network will host the first ever Youth Media Market on Saturday, November 19 from 1-4 p.m. at the Walker Art Center. This event will bring several Twin Cities area youth media programs and media professionals together to provide an opportunities fair for youth who make media or who are interested in making media. Slated media professionals include filmakers Erick Boustead, founder of Line Break Media, Dawn Mikkelson, founder of Emergence Pictures, and Sam Kovar, Creative Media Director of Career Services at the Minnesota School of Business, as well as Katherine Glover, who is freelance writer and journalist.
Youth are encouraged to bring video, audio, and/or written work samples to receive feedback from the panel of professionals, but those who don't have work samples can still receive valuable advice from the panel about how to get started.
Attendees can also use the market to connect with local organizations that work with youth in media making and find out how to gain access to equipment, upcoming classes and programs in their area.
