Youth Action Committee-September Update

This summer, five youth worked at SPNN assisting with classes, doing outreach, archiving media, editing, and helping out with community productions. It was a busy summer, but everyone had a lot of fun in the process.

SPNN Showcase on the Showboat

SPNN is going back to the river!  Our Showcase on the Showboat will be Thursday, October 13th, 2011 from 6pm - 10pm.  It's a great opportunity to spend a fine evening on the Mississippi with friends, gathered together in support SPNN and our unique mission.

2011 Hometown Video Awards

SPNN has received two 2011 Hometown Video Awards!

The Hometown Video Awards honors and promotes community media, and local cable programs that are distributed on Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) access cable television channels. Awards are presented to creative programs that address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats and move viewers to experiences television in a different way.

August NVP Update

 It's hard to believe, but NVP will wrap up for the 2010 - 2011 season in just three short weeks. East side youth are busy working on their videos covering past industry of the area, a former neighborhood school, and a project working to preserve historic East Side homes. These videos will be screened at the Dayton's Bluff Recreation Center on August 12th. In the meantime, you can check out our newest NVP addition to our online Media Library, NVP Skyline!

YAC August Update

The Youth Action Committee is off to a busy start this summer!  After reviewing all that was accomplished over the school year, YAC decided that hosting an event for Twin Cities youth would be the main project for the summer.  This event, the SPNN Youth Summit, will allow youth from the Twin Cities to work in teams to create original short films...all in one day!  Check in next month for an update on how the event turned out!

SPNN Teams up with Face to Face to make HIV Awareness Videos

SPNN Youth recently partnered with St. Paul youth resource center, Face to Face, to create a series of public service announcements promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and testing. Using SPNN Youth's facilities and equipment, several youth from Face to Face's youth drop-in center,

Youth Media Leaders and Youth Intern Program

This summer, SPNN is welcoming five youth to work with our summer programs as Youth Media Leaders. As Youth Media Leaders, these youth will utilize the skills they have gained through their previous participation in our programs.
