Out with the old in with the new...almost

Twenty-five members have taken the first step in moving their production to HD. This Winter/Spring SPNN will be transitioning from our workhorse SD DSR 250 camera into our new HD AX2000.  To get members ready for the transition, we held three AX2000 sessions on Saturday. Members liked the small size (similar in size to the PD 170) and ease of use.

85 inch TVs or mobile devices- what is the future?

In an era where the buzz word is mobile, Samsung has decided bigger really is better. At the International Consumer Electronics Show they debuted an 85 inch Ultra High Definition TV screen.  Even if you could afford to buy this big screen that is expected to come out later this year, will you watch TV the way you did five years ago?

These youth will work alongside an SPNN Youth staff member to conduct media workshops at the St. Paul Public Libraries Hayden Heights branch. These workshops will take place two Mondays a month. Say hello to our awesome new neighbors on Saturday, December 1st

Logo for the MMAA Project Space

The arts community in downtown St. Paul is continuing to grow with the recent additions of Bedlam Lowertown and the Minnesota Museum of American Art (MMAA). Both of these institutions, for a variety of reasons, found themselves without a permanent space for some time, and both chose to settle within a few blocks of SPNN. We're so happy to welcome them to the neighborhood, and excited to see what kind of new, creative work they bring. Want to see what these organizations are up to?

Sprockets Citywide Database: Good news for quality St. Paul youth programs

‘Find out what moves you,’ are the first words you see when you visit the St Paul Sprockets website, the new citywide out-of-school time network in St Paul. Given that young people spend about 80 percent of their time outside of school, it is easy to see how enriching their out-of-school time can perhaps be even more influential on their future than time spent in the classroom. A collaboration of the City of Saint Paul, youth-serving community organizations...

Set It Up: six weeks in

Set It Up crew members at In Progress during a field trip
So here it goes: I volunteered to write a blog post about Set It Up and my involvement in the program. Thank god I have time with youth at the end of today to look forward to! I continue to work in youth development because, like many youth workers, I didn't always feel the best about myself as a youth and wished I had joined or found opportunities that provided youth with a space to explore their interests, while also boosting their self-esteem.

The run-up to being seen around the world

Todd Berntson on the ladderTodd Berntson, Executive Director PLTV

By Dr. Todd Berntson, Executive Director Pagan Living TV

When I finished graduate school in clinical psychology, the last thing in the world I thought I would end up doing is producing a TV show. Pagan Living TV was established as a charitable non-profit organization that produces a weekly news program that discusses the issues of today from a Pagan perspective. When I decided to start PLTV, I quickly discovered that it takes enormous resources, a lot of talented people, and a ton of creativity to launch a broadcast-quality program.

Win an Apple TV - Equipping SPNN Youth Update #1

As you may know by now we've launched the public portion of our Equipping SPNN Youth campaign.  I thought I'd take a moment to go over what will happen in the next few months, and outline the areas where folks can get involved to help us reach the finish line.

The train that is our fundraising campaign will make three stops in the next five months.  1)  Give to the Max Day, 2) The End of the Year campaign, and 3) Our SPNN Showcase in April.
