Free Stop Frame Animation workshop for youth!

For several years, SPNN Open Lab (SOL) has given local youth the opportunity to work on producing short videos in a free-form environment. Each Monday at SPNN, youth producers drop-in at the media lab to work on everything from documentaries to music videos, with the support of our youth programs staff.

Beginning this year, SOL is coming out of the media lab and going into the community. One day a month we’re holding workshops at neighborhood branches of the Saint Paul Public Library on topics like spoken word videos, PSAs, and storytelling through film.

TV is changing and we need to keep up

In the typical family room there used to be a television, than the gaming counsel and the computer were added.  Now they are becoming interchangeable.  People don’t sit down to watch television the same way anymore and you need to keep up.

Cable companies now have on demand services and televisions now have WiFi connections and SDI inputs for your computer.  You can now surf YouTube, Hulu or other media sites and watch the content on your television.  This means you can watch what you want when you want and you don’t have to watch it on a tiny screen.

Community Productions creates new PSAs for local organizations

For the last several years, SPNN’s Community Productions team has been regularly creating original public service announcements for Twin Cities non-profits. Working with both new and existing community partners, our team of production professionals craft high quality videos that are aired on our channels and uploaded to the web.
